leap years and more movies

yay yay. its a leap year this year! 29th feb is tomorrow... olympics coincide with leap years i think... singapore will hopefully get medal in the olympics this year?

school proper starts tomorrow, with lessons and stuffies. i have to start studying! i start all days at 9 and end monday at 12.30, thursdays at 3.15 and the other days at 5.15... poor me! amanda gets friday off. THE ENTIRE DAY! kaii and cherm's timetables are more relaxed than mine, with one less subject.

i already dislike 2 of my tutors... but they're just boring that's all.

movie update: i've watched house of wax and secret(!! yes, melissa who cannot stand half an hour of chinese managed to watch a movie that was in chinese... and liked it, i must admit)

i'm off to lala land!

movies and wang wang

i've been watching movies... quite a number of them actually since internet here is rather limited and shopping has to be kept to a minimum. so we take full advantage of the collection of uncle andrew's and the malaysians who have managed to bring over DVDs.

i have watched sweeney todd: demon barber of fleet street, juno, desperate housewives and hot fuzz. they're all nice. juno's very touching, desperate housewives is super funny, hot fuzz is gory and sweeney todd's got johnny depp and alan rickman, enough said.

i have gotten familiar with the way to trinity and roughly know how to get to the surrounding areas. probably because we go window shopping so much. oh and in this shopping centre called melbourne central, liwen showed us this asian grocery. we all screamed when we found wang wang. we also then proceeded to buy a giant sack of it... strange what being away from home does to you... i also saw tam tam there and pork floss.

today was an uneventful day for me because i didn't have a single bit of lessons so i woke up at 12 and ate lunch and replied emails and tidied my room

an egoistical song

HAHA. people at albert house are seriously hilarious.

amanda was blasting her ipod in her and cherm's room and she was combing her hair when this ridiculously ego song came along AND she sang along while combing her hair. it goes something like this:

I feel pretty, Oh, so pretty,
I feel pretty and witty and bright!
And I pity any girl who isn't me tonight.
I feel charming, Oh, so charming It's alarming how charming I feel!
And so pretty that I hardly can believe I'm real.
See the pretty girl in that mirror there: Who can that attractive girl be?
Such a pretty face, Such a pretty dress, Such a pretty smile, Such a pretty me!
I feel pretty, Oh, so pretty
That the city should give me its key.
A committee
Should be organized to honor me.
I feel dizzy, I feel sunny, I feel fizzy and funny and fine,
And so pretty, Miss America can just resign!

i nearly died laughing because it was so ego and it was sung in the cinderella way and amanda is forever touting herself as pretty girl. joyce was laughing too although it was the third time she was seeing this 'performance'. its called i feel pretty from west side story... amanda said she couldn't send it to me... bleagh. anyone has the song?

i'm currently addicted to 2 songs: corrine may's angel in disguise and shakespeare in love. ladida.

still missing everyone back home.

taidi, dynamo and my calculator

albert house has already formed cliques, the girls mostly. its bound to happen anyway but that was quick... i'm hanging around singaporeans mainly, not because i discriminate against other nationalities but because i feel most comfortable around them? of course we do mix with others like play heart attack and spoon and taidi with the rest at the dining room.

speaking of taidi, i did my first load of laundry today! taidi and laundry don't sound related but we played it while waiting for our turn to use the washing machine. its bloody expensive. $3 for washing and $1 for drying. my clothes turned out fine, i guess i trust dynamo now...

i'm typing this as i wait for lunch at albert house at my desk and chermaine is sleeping on my bed, i'm supposed to wake her up soon. we had a drama workshop this morning, it was quite fun... but i'd rather take GP i think. but we don't have PW here, thank goodness.

jolene just arrived in melbourne and my mum passed her my calculator that i forgot to bring. heh. so i'd better collect it from her soon. i forgot to bring 3 things:
-my scientific calculator, which jolene helped me bring
-my nokia charger, which someone in albert house has a spare and gave me it
-my longman advanced dictionary, which i have to go buy. bleagh. books here are super ex.

much love!

misses!

i selected my subjects today... i've decided to be a toot and take 4 electives instead of the usual three so now i have maths, accounting, econs and psych with the compulsory lit&drama, english and history of ideas which is kind of like GP. my mother was like so you're going to do psycho... she thinks psych is an absolute waste of time and that its pure nonsense. i seem to be following in my parents footsteps, they both deal with financial stuff. but apparently it pays DAMN well... you're supposed to work your tail off for the first 5 years and then you get to travel all over the world. sounds good to me!

so far i'm not homesick but as i've told some friends, in the day you are surrounded by friends but at night when you return to your room, espescially when you live in a single room like i do, you kinda start to miss everything in your home country and it hits hard.

for example, what i'm missing now:
-unlimited internet
-free 1000 smses
-the fact that i don't have to do laundry
-home food
-cheap food in general

and what i REALLY miss
-family
-7jam and the other cousins
-manda, melia, claire and everyone in mg... well maybe not EVERYONE but yeah...
-basically, FRIENDS

but i'm learning slowly, how to live on my own... like sort the coloured from the whites which always, to me, sounds like i'm some sort of laundry racist... and that subway, kleenex and that a free city tram is the cheapest way to go.

wiis and castles

cny celebration was good thanks to the wii! yay!
and the food of course... auntie mary actually made her own kueh pai tee shells! i was eating the ruined ones... we had our usual round of tai di but that was done in a hurry cause we wanted to play with barry's wii. now all of us want a wii!

i'm in aussie now! i'm living among singaporeans, malysians and honkies at a hostel... its a nice place, i got my own room but i have to share a toilet with girl who hasn't arrived yet. trinity is a very pretty place, the buildings are like wow. really cool, makes you feel like you're in hogwarts or those medevial castles. sadly the lecture theatres are not so wow, it makes me feel like sleeping maybe because i'm so used to sleeping 9 hours a day... we had an english diagnostic test and on the form, it had this section saying 'if you studied in singapore, please fill up this section: what did you get for A levels for english OR what was your final grade?' so obviously, not having taken A levels i filled in the final grade section with a very nice A1 and put there in brackets o levels. really nice satisfaction putting that thing there... its a nice motivation!

i think i'm going to take maths, econs and pyschology in trinity with english and history of ideas as compulsory subjects... I'M FINALLY DONE WITH CHINESE!!!! yes! the only problem here is the malysians tend to speak cantonese and so i will be hearing more chinese... damn. most of the borders here are chinese, only 2 indians?... i heard a few malaysians condeming singapore but once the guy knew i was singaporean he was like nothing personal! actually what he said was quite true, us being money minded. singapore so racially sensitive...

anyway, lots of love to melia, manda, claire, stace, jia, pet, lesley[both], squeak, the cell, OGco and gb people.
and 7jam and the cousins!
