promises and mothers

happy birthday andrea & amanda!
you're 15 now so please act like it yeah? anyway, enjoy sec 3, study hard and be good!

hmm. i'm thinking about all the promises i've made i can can safely tell you i'm mad. for example:

When i was 10, i promised myself i would become a chinese teacher and save the world from ting xie. i don't think MOE accepts people with a D7 in their o level chinese... anyway, i'm not fond of chinese.

When i was 12, i promised a complete stranger from church that i would one day become a sunday school teacher in exchange for him to buy a $10 funfair ticket. i remember manda took that promise for me but i've fufilled my promise. i saw the guy last year and i told him, he still remembered. odd that i remember his face cause i'm really forgetful. i guess when it comes to these kind of promises, you don't forget it.

i should stop making these weird promises.

today in psych, we learnt about a child's development inside the mother's womb. it reminded me of mrs cheong in bio, telling us about giving birth and the real experience of it, having gone through it herself, which made the entire bio class squeamish and tell each other, i'm adopting. but both mrs cheong and maureen said the same thing, "but in the end, the child is worth it". i guess mothers all over the world are the same. yeah. as far as i know, in albert house, most of the mothers call us about once in 2 weeks asking the same thing "how are you?" if you think about it, if we can answer the phone, we're not dying anytime soon, nor are we starving to death, we are also well rested enough not to be sleeping when parents call so all in all, we're really fine. but thanks for calling and asking anyway.

cheng tng and 'family'

HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY WAICHEL!

i cannot believe that you're so old, especially since you act so young... anyway, best wishes from me and remember to photoshop your darling dearest cousin into your photos.

chermaine made cheng tng in our rice cooker today... managed to get the ingredients from an asian grocer. i don't like cheng tng so i have no idea how it turned out, but according to kaii, there's the cheng tng essence but its missing quite a few things.

Went for dinner with kaii, grace, ah ma, bill and xian. cherm had dinner with a family friend and wai hoe wanted to have his instant mee. so in a really weird sense, i had a family dinner without ah kong and mummy. there's a saying that goes 'friends are your chosen family'. if they are, i'm glad that i have such a funny and nice one.

pooufed

HOI ESSAY

no stress. absolutely none at all. not when about half the people have booked the tour in the library and i can't get into the school portal to book it.

NONE.

oh. i just got in. ok. so i can book it. yay. ladida.

is there something that can *poouf* you into oblivion? like a fairy godmother or a nasa space shuttle? i don't mind being pooufed now. which is why i liked OBS and gb camps. you don't have time/energy to think to yourself 'hmmm. now melissa, when this camp ends i wonder how i'm going to complete maths. because i can't stand this topic'. your main aim is to survive and to focus on the task ahead, which, although might need a hell lot more energy than scratching your head and flicking your wrist to write, is a lot more enjoyable.

i don't mind going back to OBS, to be away from civilisation for a while, no handphone nor msn and you can see the stars at night.

as for gb camps, i miss the people and the milo in the mornings and the games. and pizza buns! haha. i miss geebee people! to the 15 of you, i miss you, although vera and rach.o are here...

family tree!

i've survived 1 week of school. its a nice thought, to keep me going...

xian chang has a new scandal! he likes jolene!

no that was not true but that was put in there to piss him off. they're arch enemies in eap. but at least they have something passionate going on! it can turn to love, ya know? xian?

hmmm. oh and this is my family tree! incomplete though

grace [great-grandmother]

amanda [ah-ma] wai hoe [ah kong]

chermaine [mummy] bill [daddy] xian chang [illegitimate uncle]

kaii [older sis] me![younger sis]

ah ma is forever threatening to disown us, and she and ah kong are forever cheating on each other but they both love each other, despite not admitting it and telling me and kaii to go and die if we ever tell her they love each other.

ah kong is pretty much the same, gives us a form of the middle finger if we do suggest that he loves ah ma, which is made by putting all the tips of your fingers together in a circle, fingers facing skywards, middle finger being in front.

daddy is our daddy despite him not wanting to be our daddy and always says shit you, i'm not your daddy or doing that middle finger thingy. but at night, he turns into cheri! his alter ego!

mummy really acts like our mummy, but she always tells us that we have no daddy. once i accidentally called her mummy in the supermarket rather loudly. a couple next to us looked at her like she was some alien

illegitimate uncle is that because it was a choice between that, the dog or eldest brother. but he does act like an illegitimate uncle because he pimps a fair bit and once came home at 2 am, absolutely sloshed, stopped by ah ma and mummy's room and mumbled i am so wasted or something to that effect, and had no memory of that happening the next day.

kaii is a bit more responsible than me, has a tidier room, does her work more frequently than i do, knows how to work her way around the laptop, thanks to the many dramas she so often downloads. older sister ya see? but on the other hand, she cannot cook, cannot wash dishes and you get the point.

so i have a severely dysfuntional family with grandparents trying to constantly cheat on each other[wai hoe is the ho. get it?], a daddy who claims that he isn't, a mummy who is a mummy and an older sister whom i can cook better than. i love them still!

thanks

i shall properly thank people and describe my holiday here:

manda, melia and claire: thanks for taking time out from your ultra busy lives to meet up. i know you guys were rather tired from funorama so thank you again. Crazy times we've had and will continue to have yeah?

manda and i being stupid

claire and i being stupid too!

[finally, a proper shot] me and melia being good!

manda being blur and melia being cheerful. all in all, their usual selves

rachel, my delusional cousin who thinks she's the dearest: haha. you kept laughing at me as i was telling my story! come to think of it i guess we're pretty alike in that aspect. hmm... oh yeah! good luck with ahem although i think you can do better. but at least he's nice?

ryan, ethel, andrea, alicia: thanks for being at the dinner, i really enjoyed myself, us playing with those tiny bouncy plastic bingo balls... and the tai di was good too! so far, ryan and ethel, both of you are one of the best tai di players i've seen.

maddy and meanne: you guys only wanted me back for david right? but anyway, thanks for the treasure hunt and the sign on the celing!

jia & stacey: haha! you guys practically ambused me at church. i heard this sudden scream and was about to turn around but all i saw was hair and both of you were hugging me... *chokes*. nice to see you again...

cell: nice to see you've finally finished the 10/11 commandments... take good care of hwai may yeah?

to everyone, thanks for making my holiday so enjoyable.

love melissa

in aus for the second term

back in albert house.

thanks for the holiday outings people! even though it was a school day and even though it was a rather busy week for you guys, i appreciate you guys taking the time out to meet me and entertain me. lots of love!

for the first week it was mainly meeting friends and stuff but for the second week i found that i had nothing to do so i signed myself up for ice skating lessons. i fell down my fair share of times but at least now i can skate backwards and also i can skate in a circle.

odd that with limited internet i turn to blogging. note that i didn't post anything during my holidays. i was too busy eating all the nice food!

HOME

I'M HOME!

HOME HOME HOME HOME HOME HOME HOME.

i woke up on the day of my flight at 12.30, and we were supposed to be ready by 2.30 and i hadn't packed nor eaten lunch so i did everything in a hurry. wow right? i managed to pack a 12 day suitcase and eat lunch and print out my air ticket in 2 hours... although the last bit jian fei was nice enough to do for me... i must remember to pay him back

i went out with manda, melia and claire thanks to funorama. monday was to count tickets for them and they were free to go. we went back to mg to eat red bowl noodles and see a few teachers. i really missed it. the noodles, not the teachers. but i like a few of my teachers... oh and we went to plaza sing to watch the bucket list. its a really nice movie. then went to coffee bean to eat manda's caesar salad. and took lots of weird photos there.

i haven't gotten used to singapore's humidity. i sweat even though my sisters say its a perfectly normal day. oh well, freezing-ness awaits me in melbourne... i don't know which one's worse
